“My life is crazy, and unfortunately practicing violin doesn’t always make it to the top of my to do list. I often worry that I’m wasting Trev’s time when I show up for lessons kind of unprepared. I am passionate about music and violin, but my responsibilities usually take precedence and consequently most of my time. Fortunately, Trev has been incredibly understanding, recognizing that my schedule and anxiety are often obstacles to my ability to practice and play the way I want to. By acknowledging and helping me accept that preparation and practice looks different for everyone, Trev has helped dispel my preconceptions about what it means to be a “successful” violinist and student. He creates an environment of understanding, kindness, and mutual respect. Playing the violin in front of anyone other than my dog makes me extremely anxious, but through Trev’s calm patience and good humor, I have found myself able to laugh during our lessons and try techniques or ideas that would usually scare me. I am deeply appreciative of the opportunity to pursue one of my passions in an environment conducive to both my schedule and my anxiety.”
